Skills Training for Women and Girls
Stawisha Dada currently focuses on tailoring and embroidery as part of its practical skills training programme.
Tailoring
Participants gain hands-on experience using sewing machines, working with fabric and making useful products.
Training can include sewing machine operation, taking measurements, fabric cutting, garment making, finishing, repairs and alterations.
Embroidery
Participants can learn embroidery and use it to add names, designs and other details to clothing and textile products.
From training to production
The aim is to give participants skills they can use beyond the training sessions. With more equipment and experience, participants can make products for customers, schools, churches, businesses and other local markets.
The group plans to develop the current project into a better-equipped community training and production centre.
